Our journey with The Kraft House began as we were introduced to the School Enterprise Challenge by our school teachers, we surfed the internet and saw the Facebook page of the school enterprise challenge and watched the videos of the last year participants. It was motivating, inspirational but at the same time it was challenging. We all were given some time to think upon the business idea which should be economically, socially and financially feasible. We eventually all came up with the idea of producing handicrafts products out of waste material and so we stared working on the idea.
Then we communicated this news to other children and we formulated the team our The Kraft house which was further divided into different departments of accounting, marketing, production, Information Technology and other relevant departments. After that we decided what are the handicraft products which we will sell . Then accordingly so the startup cost we organised a fund raising programme during the summer vacation. We sold lemonade, sprouts, bhelpuri and papdi chat. We got considerable amount of funds for the production.
Then for nearly one month students of different classes with the help of experts produced friendship-bands, ruffles, greeting cards, folders, envelopes ,headbands, Tic Tac, scarves, Quilling cards for the sale. Then we focused on the upcoming launch event of the Kraft House for this we had sent circulars to the parents informing them about the event. And so we successfully launched our Kraft house on 1st august 2015. It was inaugurated by the members of the residential welfare association of Naraina. Our first sale was big success and an energy booster for all the students and the guide teachers. Their were some products from sale one whose some portion was left unsold and so we decided to exhibit the items in library after the school hours for the school staff members and teachers and eventually all the stock was cleared. After settling all the accounts for sale one and reviewing the customer feedback form we started focusing on our sale 2.We observed that in sale one people demanded products for their daily need rather than the products for the gift purpose.and so we decided to add handkerchief, pencil pouches, pencil toppers, decorative stickers and paper bags to the list of our products. we also sold few varieties of Diyas, Ganpati and Laxmi idols in sale 2 to promote the upcoming Diwali sale. we got more better response in sale 1 as we got pre-orders for the Diwali sale.Currently we are focusing on the upcoming dewali sale for which different varieties of Diya, Ganpati & Laxmi Idols are being produced.
Not only this we will sell gel candles, tea lights and herbal colours for Rangoli. we hope we will get the same or better response for the upcoming sale.for the promotion of our products we made our Facebook page and Youtube channel, we even sold our products through online selling portals. after every sale we use yo send articles to the national daily of Hindustan times and the times of India to be published. For the initial stage over our intention was to donate 20% of profit to NGO working in the field of Save Girl Child/HIV Patients and generate employment by developing skills for the weaker section of the society. So we can say till now our overall journey with the Kraft House was a memorable and a fruitful experience for all the member and teacher of the Kraft House. We came across out hidden abilities while working under the Kraft House.
